Jim Patrick is a retired librarian and a local historian who has lived in Yuma since 1986. He has undergraduate degrees in English and History from Iowa State University, as well as master’s degrees in Library Science and History from the University of Illinois. He is interested in all facets of Yuma history, but his special research projects include Yuma’s baseball history, Hollywood film-making in the Yuma area, and Yuma’s “Gretna Green” wedding chapel era (1928-1956). Much of the initial content of this site was created over the past several years while working as a reference librarian for the Yuma County Library District. Some of Jim’s articles and videos can still be found on the YCLD website (yumalibrary.org).
